Guest -> Can you still use EBSQ's templates on Ebay? (10/25/2011 7:28:36 PM)

I posted this in question in another thread but I think it would be more suited for this one.

Can you still use the Ebsq templates in the Ebay description area? I have been trying for about an hour now and all I get is the text and no pictures.
I looked in the help section and can't find an answer anywhere.

Please help!

Yes, you can. But you do need to be sure that you are using eBay's html tab (lord, I can't remember what it's called right now--long day) Do you have an auction going right now that's showing improperly so we can take a look?

I spent four hours to get two entries entered for Nibblefest. Now with Ebay's new rules you can't have tiny URL's or links leading anywhere off of Ebay (like EBSQ) in your description.

I had trouble with photos with a URL also. So I got ONE to take that day with an EBSQ template, but could never get the other to take and had to settle for no photo in my description to get it through.

Amie, it might be hard to show you one because it won't even let you get far enough to actually put your item up for sale live, without giving you errors that you have tiny URLs or off Ebay links.

I called customer support and they couldn't help me.

Now today...I accidentally got one through.

Oy. I didn't realize there were now technical issues with them. I'll see if I can find a copy of the new rules for Bill to contemplate so we can get something to work for you all.

Torrie are you talking about the EBSQ template? Did you list them before October 1st (that's when the new Ebay links rules were supposed to be in affect)?

Anyway if you are talking about you using the EBSQ template, there are already links built into them that take you off Ebay like "Enlarge Image" (within the template html) and the "Self Representing Artists" link under the EBSQ logo (also within the template html).

I have had a couple get through the listing process and some not. Maybe they are catching some but not all right now.

Thanks Torrie. I've still got a lot of EBSQ templates in my store and I put one up recently no problem. Guess I'll just keep trying...(-:

Good idea about the google thing. I had just started my Sherry Key website when my laptop got stolen. At least I have a few links on my website and will have to start over again when I can.

I agree, Torrie; that's a FANTASTIC idea!

I can't figure out how to get the Ebsq template so I made my own. But I was wanting to use the Ebsq template because it seemed like it was a little less trouble getting the images in place. Now I'm using photobucket to host my images and I'm putting the images in place with html..
I think I remember using a different system here in Ebsq when I was making my template but now I can't figure out how to get it to work with ebay. Not that it really matters now to me but to others I'm sure it will.

To create an EBSQ Template:

Go to your profile tools.
Click "My Art"
Click the piece for which you wish to generate a template.
Click "Other Tools"
Click "Create HTML View of this Art (Templates)"
Select your template version
Copy and paste when done.

To add to this...I have to use Internet Explorer on Ebay and EBSQ for the html to come out right when pasted into the Ebay item description. It won't work right with Google, I don't know about others. I have heard Firefox is supposed to work too but I don't really want to have 4 or 5 to be able to do one thing. It's kind of ridiculous really.

I mostly use Google but when I notice things are screwing up while trying to use EBSQ templates and most html on Ebay, I realize I have to close out of everything and open it up in IE. I don't like using IE because there are others with better security. Especially for home computers.
