Getting funny symbols in my Artist Profile, Commisions, and Descriptions/statements when I use quotation marks.  Working from my work putter, a PC with Windows Vista and Explorer....

Thought I got rid of all of them, but they are still in my profile, no matter how many times I go in, edit, and delete them

Wait 8 minutes and check to see if they're gone or not. Our site has caching on.

How are you trying to edit them?

I'v tried in both the normal text box, and with HTML Block elements...  Thought I got rid of them yesterday, but they are back today in my artist statment...  Right after the last set of quotes, it a big A with a symbol above it....

I had the same issue trying to edit your statements with Chrome, but the changes saved with Firefox. We'll look into what's going on. Thanks for the heads up!

I can't for the life of me figure out why it's being so buggy for you. Are you composing your statements on our site, or pasting them from somewhere else?

I was able to edit them, logged in as you, using Firefox. I'm not sure why things aren't working as expected on your end. Sorry, Joe!

FIGURED IT OUT (With the help of Google!!)

I write my descriptions in MS Word, as I upload to multiple sites and don't want to sit there and re-write EVERYTHING in every location...

Well, MS Word punctuation (quotes, fractions, etc) use a "specialized" html code that confuses a lot of editors....

So, I can upload my work using the MS Word past box, but the (while on Firefox), I need to go back into the description, delete all the punctuation, and re-enter it.....

Arrrggggg! Why can't ALL computers/web sites speak the same language????

Anyways, now that I got it figured out, I posted "And the Curtain was Torn" in less than 10 minutes, where with the others I was fighting for 2+ hours each... Now things should go faster!

MS Word is notorious for messing up text editors. And it's beefier that you probably need for what you're doing. Your computer likely has a built-in text editor, sans bells and whistles, and it just writes things in plain text. It works EVERYWHERE without you having to go back and edit.

(and if you had mentioned MS Word last night, I could have saved you the research, lol)

Haha!! I think most end-users use MS Word, as it is the standard word processor out there, comes on every PC, and now MAC... When not stated otherwise, I think it should always be assumed (especially from non-tech people) that they used Word!

Oh, I assume people use it for documents. I just don't assume that people pre-write their artist statements using it. The bulk of our members compose their statements directly on our site. That's why I asked if you were pasting your statements from somewhere, since the "special" characters implied copy-paste, but I wasn't sure if you were grabbing statements from Etsy, your own editor, your own site, or somewhere else.
