Hello,

I have managed to do a few things on the site, and I love it! But i am having some technical difficulties. I have an etsy site, a web site, several blogs and am just sorting out linking and html but downloading pictures here in forums is giving me problems. I really dont see a resource for how to regarding photos even though the downloads into Portfolio worked no problem.

How do you get a picture of yourself, your avatar, on these forums? None of my photos will download to embed in post, except the first one. I have reduced them and still no downloading. Are there a list of limitations and instructions anywhere that I missed.

I see all of these icons and codes here too and have not a clue, of course I am not a techie, make jewelry!

Can I be helped?

mooaany

Hi Caarmen.  What adorable doggies you have!!  I answered your call for help in the practice thread.  [:)]

lamillerphotography -> RE: New to EBSQ? Say hello! (12/18/2009 6:45:20 PM)

Carmen how to post pics in your post...........you will need a place to host them, like photobucket or flickr. Those websites will give you a URL in different sizes. You will want it to be medium sized. It the corner of the reply box there is a yellow tab thingie. Click on that and a box will come up, paste your URL into the box and tada your photo will show up in your post. Just keep practicing you'll get the hang of it and don't worry, we have all been there. [;)]

espressojoe -> RE: New to EBSQ? Say hello! (12/18/2009 7:49:08 PM)

Carmen,

First of all, WELCOME TO EBSQ!!!

Second, I LOVE your jewelry!!  We have many many great jewelry artists on here, so you will be in great company!

For posting pics to the forum, you can’t directly upload a picture to the forum, it has to already be on the web somewhere, like in your EBSQ profile.

I’ll use one of yours as an example.

From your profile, I opened the item page here:

http://www.ebsqart.com/Artists/cmd_36446_profile_portfolio__2_5_G.htm

On the main picture (the top picture), there is a little maginifying glass icon in the lower right corner, I clicked on that to enlarge the photo:

http://www.ebsqart.com/OnlineArtGallery.asp?CMD=DOSEARCH&ID=36446&FILTER=&AFILTER=&Gallery=&GALLERYTYPE=MEMBER&PAGE=2&ITEM=5&VIEWMODE=G&IID=622588&MID=36446&SCMD=ZOOM

Next, I use my mouse to right click on the photo and “drag” it into the web address bar at the top of the page (the place you type in www.etc....)

That gives you an address for a large copy of your pic:

http://www.ebsqart.com/Art/36446/622588.jpg

In the forums, when you “Post a thread” or “Post a reply”, there is a little yellow icon on the line above of the box you type in. It is on the far right hand side.  The actuall icon is different depending on what browser your computer uses, so it may or may not be yellow, bur if you position your mouse over it, it should say “add image”.

Click on that image and it will bring up a pop up window that reads “Enter Image URL:”

Here, type in (or copy and paste in), the address above  (http://www.ebsqart.com/Art/36446/622588.jpg)

And it should show your image like this:

[image]http://www.ebsqart.com/Art/36446/622588.jpg[/image]

If you want a smaller pic, follow the same steps, but don’t click on the magnifying glass icon on your image, just drag the small pic to your web address bar.   You will end up with  an image like this:

[image]http://www.ebsqart.com/Art/36446/622588/EndofDayMaskPendant_275_275.jpg[/image]

Sorry if I have over-simplified this, but when I was new to the forums, I needed things over simplified and became frustrated when people didn’t give me step-by-step instructions, so I want to make sure if you are web-naïve as I am, you can still do it!

I used the EBSQ portfolio as an example, but you can get pic addresses from any website and use this method!

Hope this helps and again, welcome to EBSQ!!!

Oh Thank you so much!!!

You could never over simplify too much for me on this kind of thing. I did try to transfer pictures from my website, and that wouldnt work, I dont know if it is my browser, firefox, or my ignorance. A bit of both I imagine. You are too kind to take your time to explain this for me. I see you are in Yuma, Az, I used to live in Sedona, Az still hot there?

Your artwork is intriguing! It is the type of art you need to look at one at a time and think about it. I see you are an animal, kitty lover too! Bravo and thanks again now I am off to work on these images!!!!

Almost year round! LOL...  Right now though, it's getting into the 40's at night! Brrrr!!!!! (I know, a lot of people on here will say 40?, that's warm lol)

The animal photos were all uploaded for a Simon Sez "Fury", but yes, I do LOVE anything fuzzy! [:)] We have a lot of animal lovers on here!

Getting ready, in a week or two, to completely re-do my profile to focus on my more recent abstract works.  I have like 30 paintings that I haven't gotten around to photographing (camera and computer problems).  I'll let everyone know when I do!! Want to have a cleaner profile, with a clear, consistent body of work that's to my current style.

Guest -> RE: New to EBSQ? Say hello! (12/20/2009 10:09:25 AM)

I will look forward to seeing your new endeavors, glad to see there are lots of animal lovers here, because that means I am in the right place!

Hello! My name is Rossana Kelton. I have been working in oil paintings for many years but I am always open to new techniques. I have a question. I need help with a classical oil painting technique. I am painting a portrait and I need help oil painting the folds of the clothing of the portrait. I am not very good in that area. I need help. Can someone post a discussion as to the approach of this technique? Thank you very much for all your assistance, Rossana Kelton

bromley2 -> RE: New to EBSQ? Say hello! (3/8/2010 9:16:42 PM)

Welcome to the forum, Rossana!!  Good to have you here.  I am afraid I am one of the digital artists here, so cannot be a lot of help.  I am sure someone will be along to help with your question.

Carolyn

Harlan -> RE: New to EBSQ? Say hello! (3/9/2010 7:20:55 AM)

Welcome to the forums, Rossana!!!

Could you be a bit more specific about what your difficulty with the folds in the fabric is? A very good rule for oil painters is to stop painting what you "know" is there, and paint what you see. If you try to paint a gold ring thinking about it being a gold ring, it becomes a difficult project. If you stop thinking about it being a gold ring and just look to see what is really there, the different colors and the shading, the task becomes simpler. Maybe that would help with your fabric problem?

Posting a photo of your project may help us figure out what the problem is and give you more useful advice.
