For those of you who are having speed problems, what style of posting are you doing? inline? or popping up a window?

What??? I don't know what you mean. [>:]

I guess I am doing "inline" - I just hit "postreply", the page refreshes with an input/reply area and then I hit OK.

Edits to a previous post don't seem to have the same lag time.

If you go to "my profile" and scroll down past your personal info, you'll see a bunch of forum defaults/setting you can customize. in-line/popups are the option for posting/editing style. sounds like you're doing it in-line. not sure why you're seeing a lag. We haven't been able to replicate it on our end, which makes it harder to diagnose.

Next question--browser type?

IE 7

I'm not experiencing similar delays anywhere else and I get no lag at all when I edit a post I've already made but when I'm making a new reply there is always 20 -30 seconds from the time I hit "OK" to the message posted successfully blurb.

Hmmm, not sure what to tell you. It's the same version as me, and as I said, we can't replicate the problem on our end, so I don't have a clue as to what's going on for you or how to make it better.

Pop up here...

IE7 and Safari (ancient version), but speed seems to be back up to normal, at least for me.....

I am making sure that Amie sees this. There is still a problem with PM and subscription notifications.

Yes.  I'm having probs with subscriptions.  I'm getting nothing.

Same here, John. But i think there's another thread about that... [8|]
Photos still take a long time to post, too. The thumbnail used to come up with the post, but now I get a broken image icon for a while (I didn't count how long, because I have to refresh to see it).

gillie -> RE: Forum replies slower than they used to be (2/20/2009 12:28:19 PM)

We're still working on the subscription thing. Our service provider changed/moved a bunch of stuff during our down time and we're still trying to figure out how they broke stuff so we can fix it. Trust me this is something that we WILL get to the bottom of since it impacts our ability to help you guys, not to mention traffic to the site in general!

And again, I don't know what to say about the speed issues regarding individual posts/images since we can't replicate the problem on our end and can't find any commonality in the folks who are having the problem.

toucanne -> RE: Forum replies slower than they used to be (2/20/2009 12:55:15 PM)

Thank you for keeping us posted, Amie.
As far as the slow image load, I only mentioned it because it never happened before your downtime the other day. Maybe it will fix itself when you fix the other stuff.

toucanne -> RE: Forum replies slower than they used to be (2/20/2009 1:04:50 PM)

WOOOOHOOOO! A subscription email just showed up!
Thanks, Amie!

gillie -> RE: Forum replies slower than they used to be (2/20/2009 1:05:02 PM)

The subscription issue appears to be fixed; let us know if y'all are still seeing other problems. Bill's working theory on the speed issue is that the site was slowing down from all of those failed messages that weren't making it out to you.

Thanks for your patience with this problem--and with us! You guys rock, but you already knew that[;)]

I don't get pm notices, but actually that doesn't bother me, so I'm just posting here for the sake of posting.

I have SPEED!!!! :) :) :)

Jeanne, that has to be one of the best things I have heard in some time. Maybe the "Vexing Time" is over for awhile.
