Posting images from art case & Thumbnails - 2/4/2013 6:10:43 PM

In all the years I've been here I've never tried posting an image to the forums using the image in my art case, so I thought I'd try it tonight.

I seem to be doing something wrong - when I insert the url for the regular image into the image brackets it works, although the picture is enormous. So I figured that's why people use the thumbnails. When I tried the thumbnails option, I assume I'm supposed to insert the code in between the image brackets, but no image appears, just the code. What am I doing wrong? I also tried putting the code between the code brackets but that did the same thing.

Thanks!

Ahhhhh, but the forum code doesn't recognize the thumbnail as a jpg, so it's not working.

I'm going to test this on the beta version of the new forum code to see if it's an issue there.

OK thanks. How do other people use it though?

Here's what happens when I post the full size image from my portfolio

Which would be fine if it wasn't 10x as big as the original!

This is the thumbnail...maybe it's the browser. I'm using Google.

Cute Vicky, but what a whopper.

Here is your thumbnail.

I noticed it's pretty big anyway when you click on it in your portfolio. Maybe EBSQ resized it and that is the original size you put in this post. What I do sometimes is resize it and upload it as hidden and then take that image.

Using firefox, it does work for me in the new version. If you click the image tag when posting a new thread, it pops up a button that asks for the url. You paste the url and then the save button and it will automatically embed the jpg without you having the manually put tags around it.

I'm on Safari, maybe I'll try it in Chrome which I only use under duress.

So Sherry, the thumbnails work in Chrome?

My image was so huge because I thought the "recommended size" was supposed to be enormous, I guess not?

OK I'll try one more time from Chrome, after this I have to work on my 29 faces.

OK why didn't that work? Sherry, what did you do differently?

Amie please tell me the new software doesn't have a waiting period between posts, that drives me nuts too.

Hmmm...your code has different wording. Below is what I would have put between the [Image] marks.

Are you choosing "Copy Image URL" when you right click or are you choosing one of the other choices?

This forum shouldn't have waiting periods between posts. I'll look into that.

Sherry, I copied that from the "create thumbnail" section.

Hoarders is about to start so I'll look into it in an hour.

Thanks!

Okay, I see the problem. Don't go to Create Thumbnails.

I know it works in Google. Just go to your portfolio and right click on whichever one you want, either the smaller image before you click on it, or the larger image after you click on whichever artwork you want to put in the post.

Then choose "Copy Image URL." That's the code you put between the [Image][Image].

Now I don't have that choice with IE so I have to use Google for that.

I know you are watching your show nowso I'll check back tomorrow and see if you had any luck...(-:

Thanks Sherry! There's a commercial so I'll try it now, first on Safari.

I guess I'm out of luck, I can't right click on anything since I have a mac and there's only one button on the mouse (unless there's another way I don't know of).

I'll just go back to my old way of posting images I guess, thanks for your help Sherry & Amie.
