Traffic from ebsq? - 2/24/2007 12:23:27 AM
Guest
My Imagekind portfolio traffic counter hasn't been showing any visitors from ebsq. According to my benefit stats, I get a lot of views here, but they don't seem to trickle on over to Imagekind.

Are there ways I can increase my traffic from here to there? Or is it just that visitors can already see the work here, so they just see Imagekind as the place to go if they want to buy it?

I love esbq, but of course like everyone else, I'd like to increase my traffic/sales from such a great site. I'd appreciate any advice.

When I click on your imagekind link, I am taken to the front door of imagekind but not to your portfolio there, it seems. Is there some way to fix that? I am not an imagekind member myself so this might be something that I just don't know.

oh, and traffic routes through another server before getting to IK, so that's partially why you're not seeing hits from us from the automated links. The other reason being that you do have your url incorrect in your .sig file

Oh, mannn... I will fix the url immediately. Thanks!!!

Amie, I use Google Analytics to track the traffic to my Imagekind gallery. It's free and really cool. Shows all kinds of information, including site that visitors came from, their browsers, resolution settings, keywords searched on, oh, I could go on and on. I only use about 3 of the many reports available.

All I had to do was paste some script in my IK artist's statement. I have to confess that I tried to put it in my bio here too, but it wouldn't let me. I'd love to know how traffic gets to my ebsq portfolio.

If there is interest in the analytics, I'd post some screen captures here.

trust me, we know google analytics quite well!

i thought you were referring to some hidden stat thing on IK that i couldn't find, lol.

let me inquire about members putting the code in their profiles to augment their stats...

and feel free to post your screenshots for others who might not know about the tool. it really is pretty cool!

oh, and bill brought up the fact that because we already have analytics code on the site, google might not be letting you do it, although that's just a working hypothesis...

I'm sorry, Amie, I'm so embarrassed. Of course you know about it - you're the guru! Sorry...

Sarah, how are you tracking imagekind with google? Are you setting up a specific page for imagekind for google to actually track, for instance from your website? Or from your ebsq profile page?

I use the Google Analytics feature to track visitors to my Imagekind homepage. I did this by pasting the analytics script into my artist's bio on Imagekind. So the analytics reports show where my IK traffic comes from; what websites, countries, browsers, keywords, visitors' connection speeds, all kinds of great information.

You can use the same analytic by adding other sites to it. All you need to be able to do is paste the analytics script into the page you want to track.

And if it's from ebsq, can we actually put Google Analytics on our profiles?

The analytics just shows where my Imagekind traffic originated from.

And I think Amie is saying that she'll look into allowing us to put the analytics script into our bios here, so we can track where our ebsq traffic comes from. Wouldn't that be great???

I'm wondering how you can see when there are outbound links, say to Imagekind.

I don't think you can track outbound, at least not that I'm aware of.

Okay, forgive me in advance if these screen captures are really wonky. I can't see from the preview if I'm doing it right, so after I post it I'll try to fix any problems.

Okay, let me try this again... you know how there's just some things that are a challenge? For me, getting images into forum posts is just one of 'em.

This is the referring site report.

Last one is the visitors report. Shows how many visitors, and also how many new vs returning.

There are many more reports. You can see visitors' connection speeds, screen resolution, ad nauseum. More than I'll ever need!

Thanks again for the help, Amie. I'm starting to see some ebsq traffic trickle into Imagekind now.
