I'm trying to put up an avatar, but can't seem to get it smaller than 16K in photoshop (and still look like anything) - I guess it has to be 10K or less? Even at 50x50 quality "3" (out of 10) it's still too big. How are you all getting the bigger pictures to fit?

Are you saving it as a .jpg ??

Are you saving it "for the web" instead of just "save" or "save as"

Can you upload the image here and maybe I can figure out how to downsize it for you??

I'm not seeing a "save for the web" option, although I do vaguely remember seeing it a long time ago. Where would it be? It's not one of my save options.

I'm saving it as a jpg, 72 dpi. I even tried 60 dpi with no luck.

Thanks

In my program it's under the FILE menu - half way down the options.

If you continue to have problems use the \/ click to upload (right there under the input box) and upload your picture. Then April or I can see if we can get it resized for you.

don't know that this is the image you wanted to use, Vicky, but I thought of those in your portfolio it would make a nice avatar

Thanks Harlan, that pic would be good but I had wanted to put up something newer.

I can't find the "save to web" feature on my photoshop because I just discovered this is an older version than what's on my other computer (even though this is a newer computer). That computer isn't networked but I can probably hook up the ziip drive so I can mess around with the file on that one & bring it back here.

Thanks for your help though - I still don't understand why I can't size it decently w/this version, unless I'm using an extremely low quality jpeg (maybe I'll just try that).

Vicky - if you need to  - just upload to a message here the image you do wish to use and I'll resize it for you.
