I hope I'm putting this in the right spot.  I just realized that the email address listed in my profile is one that I haven't used for 8 months.  But oddly enough, I get all my ebsq payment receipts in my new inbox.  I'm not sure why the old address is still showing up.  Is that email address something that would show up for other members to see?  If so, I really need to change that but I'm not sure how.  I know how to change info within the profile but saw nowhere to change the email address.  Can you help?  Thanks.

There are a couple different places where you might have an email address:

here on the forums (and it takes an admin to change that for you, lord only knows why, but we suspect a bug in the software)

your public email address, which is under "marketing" in your profile tools

your private contact address, which is under "identity"

You referenced PayPal as well in regard to your subscriptions. When you updated your info with them, that automatically changes the address from which we receive your PayPal notifications, but that doesn't change email addresses for you on the site since it's two different systems.

So--which profile is wrong? If it's 2 or 3, you can easily update that yourself. If it's #1, let us know and we'll manually sync that back up for you again.

Oh Geez!!!  I read your first email and was screwing around trying to find that "information" page in which to change my email.  Well I can't even find that.  I am the person they wrote all those "idiots guides" for.  Do you have an Idiot's Guide to EBSQ yet?

I was just about explain my incompetence in this area when I realized you had posted a second answer.  I'm relieved because now I get to leave the work to you.  My problem is the public email address.  I was supposed to be invited to join a group and awaited the email, only to discover later that the public email address is wrong.  It says shawnmarie1961@sbcglobal.com - my old address.  If you could please change it to shawnmarie1961@gmail.com I would appreciate it.  Then crush that little bug

Uh-uh, this is easy and you can do it yourself

Log into the main site.
Go to your profile tools
Go to marketing in the profile tools
Edit your public email address under marketing and hit save.

And the next version of the site currently in progress is a) going to be easier to use AND b) also come with ebsq for dummies, lol.

Hmmmm......o.k. I followed those instructions above and the email address is current.  I also checked under IDENTITY and that address is current.  But when you look in my PROFILE here in Forums it shows up with the old address.  I'm wondering now if that is why I never get any notifications of anything related to EBSQ even though I've checked them off.  Is there any other place to change an address?  I'm waiting for an invitation to join a group and I'm thinking this problem is why I'm not receiving the invitation.  It's been sent twice now to no avail.

Now, that's the one WE have to do for you. And yup, that would be why you're not getting the notifications. For some reason, the forums won't stay synched with the main site, and you have to change passwords, email addresses, etc, in both places, for example.

We should have that taken care of for you momentarily.

Thanks Amie!  I hope I haven't missed anything too important.  Do you send out emails notifying monthly exhibition winners?  I'm also wondering if I have missed anything pertaining to EBSQ Plus as far as email goes.

The only email that goes out via the boards is notifications of PM's, subscriptions to threads and/or full sections, and emails from individual members if you have that option allowed with your forum profile.

And no, you haven't missed any special announcements, promise!
