 I just joined the site and I'm excited to start setting up my portfolio and such, actually I've started and it's a bit confusing but I'll figure it out!  Anyway, I thought I'd stop in here and say hello and introduce myself...

I'm from Mn/Wi near the south shore of Gitchee Gummi* and live in the woods surrounded by abundant wildlife.   In case you can't tell by my name I am a beader and enjoy working with seedbeads and embellishments.  Photgraphy is another passiony and I've become fond of taking both night shots as well as macro anything.  Most of my work is sea inspired and I spend a lot of time on the shores of our mighty fresh water sea taking photographs and gathering inspiration for my beadwork.  I'm currently working on an art necklace of beach glass and at least 20 different sizes shapes and colors of mixed seedbeads, I sometimes wonder if I'll ever get it finished! 

I made myself this little necklace for Christmas after making several for close friends...

*Gitchee Gummi is Ojibwe word meaning "shining blue sea" but has also been translated as "great water", in reference to Lake Superior.

Status: offline 		Hi Steph!!!  Muuaahhh!  Glad you finally made it here!  (Steph is a friend of mine you guys, we met at another site).  That necklace came out awesome!  Did you photo the one that you gave your friend for Christmas?  See, now you can occupy yourself filling your artcase with your photography and beadwork, while you are waiting for your right arm, I mean your camera, to come back from the shop.....

 Thank you everyone!  I've been trying to do a little bit of reading on the site but it is going to take a awhile to become familiar, it's so huge! 

gillie, I did see the macro photography show and I'll surely follow your link as soon as I post this!  Thank you for posting it.

pooh2006 it's nice to meet you and it's also nice to have another newbie I don't feel so alone!

Why thank you bromley I'll go check out your post in the photography forum!  lol this place looks like so much fun I hope I don't spend too much time here reading and not enough time creating!  heheh

DawnWhite, thank you very much.  The stitch for that necklace is quite easy, actually, but they do take some hours of work.  They're fun because the spiral seems to take on a life of it's own.  It's called Dutch Spiral, and good directions for how to do the stitch can be found on about.com.

And GreenBiscuit, thank you for telling me about this lovely place!  I've been trying to get here for awhile now but the pre-holidays were crazieee  Whew, I am so glad they're gone for another year!

 Hello Roseart!  Thank you and I have to tell you I love your avatar!  That could actually be me there sitting atop my trusty steed Bucko, who I've had since 1981 and this year he'll be 29, but he's really only going on 5, just ask him!  My hair matches the portrait right down to the Stetson!

Question:

I haven't seen anyone's artwork yet since I'm still stumbling around the site and I'll have limited access till sunday night, but how do I go about finding it?

(you have one, too, but members aren't able to see their own button, since the site software assumes you have no reason to look up your own info)
