Well, is there something magical about getting a new avatar?? Do I need to circle 3 times and say something special??

I have followed Guy David's great directions.  I sized my pic to below 10 K.....9 to be exact and the file is still too large!!  I compressed the image and used Save for Web.....still the file was too large.  This is getting frustrating......any help out there??

Carolyn

LOL.....Tell me the magic dance Carolyn, I've tried to change mine a couple of times/and or make the one I have now bigger. I gave up. I'm interested in seeing the answer.

I've never had a problem changing mine as long as I re-size it in photoshop to no more than 140 pixels by 140 pixels.

Yes, it's cropped from a larger painting.

ok. carolyn's gif was too large a file (avatars have to be under 10 kb) so I exported her gif as a jpeg which made the file size (but not the image) smaller and was able to upload it just fine. maybe that will help some other folks here?

AW, thanks!  I found this photo when cleaning out my father's house...it was taken when I was a wee 4 years old and still had my blond hair!! Glad to have the photo, now I am like the rest of you with baby pics!!

Thank you Amie.  I swear that that picture was below 10K when I tried to do it.  I guess I really need to sit down with Photoshop and figure out how to size pictures....it always seems to tell me one thing and then do another.  Thank you for fixing me up and getting my new avatar up and running!

Carolyn
