Art: Ten of Arrows from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot by Artist Misty Monster
Sometimes in the Morbidly Adorable Tarot, the prettier the card, the worse the poison. Maybe you expected the Death card? Hollywood seduces you into believing a Candyland of curses will be unleashed when the Death card is drawn by the seeker. Even a wizened fortuneteller will wince and hastily bring the reading to a close, ushering the querent out of the room. As tidy as it is to blame Death, it is not the true villain of the oracle. Although it signifies something coming to an end, it leaves the earth ready for a new beginning. The one card that out-Deaths Death, is the Ten of Swords. In the case of the Morbidly Adorable Tarot, Arrows stand in for the Swords.

The Ten of Arrows from the Morbidly Adorable Tarot foretells betrayal and absolute destruction. The relationship, friendship, or partnership is done. It is dead. Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, this is them getting worse. This Angel won't be recovering any time soon from the 10 arrows in her body. You cannot get any more dead. Her loyal friends surround her in memoriam. The Worry Warts are lighting the candles. Here we see the appearance of two Fetches. Not everyone has a Fetch, but some people acquire these little familiars in times of great duress. Rue, the pug/sea anemone/Cthulhu hybrid character, will make his first appearance in the Three of Arrows card. The second Fetch, Lament, is a ghostly white deer who walks on air and is a manifestation of the devastation she has suffered. There is not much upside to this card. The bright side is there is nowhere to go but up, and they can't kill you again if you're already dead. You have nothing left to lose.
