Sparky's Dream

This piece of art won Patron's Mention award in the art exhibit Squid

Art: Sparky's Dream by Artist Vicky Knowles
As I'm sure you know, Giant Squid generally live in the abyssal zone of the ocean (the really deep, dark coldest part of the ocean). Well sometimes food gets a bit scarce down there (after all, it's hard to see with no light, no matter how enormous your eyeballs may be) and so naturally the squid will go looking for something better (food shortage or no, an all-seafood diet gets old after awhile).

This particular species of Giant squid (squiddicus landlubberus) have been known to frequent surface parks looking for breadcrumbs and peanuts generally left for the squirrels and pigeons. This is what I have chosen to depict in this painting - this particular squid is hoping that his friend Sparky will lead him to some goodies (actually he's just showing off to his buddies that he's friends with a cat!!).

This is a 5"x7" oil painting on masonite panel.
