Art: Surveying the Scene by Artist Tracey Allyn Greene
Created specifically for the EBSQ Ripped Off show 2006, this is my rip of the extraordinary artwork of Vicky Knowles. I drew inspiration from two of her pieces, "Heaven" and "Really Little Vic". Vicky's story of how her cat, Little Vic, was always around keeping a watch on her touched me. So, I decided to float her on a cloud in heaven, but even there she still keeps an eye on Big Vicky with her telescope. I went with a decided asian flare for this piece, and included some Japanese cherry blossoms, for they symbolize great beauty that is all too brief, as are the lives of the furry ones that grace our human lives. But I believe her spirit lives on and keeps Vicky company still. The calligraphy means "surveying the scene". Thanks for partnering with me Vicky, I enjoyed creating this piece for you!
