This piece is for the2006 Ripped Off show and was inspired by the creations of Lisa Rough. I was drawn to two of her pieces, "Healing the Dichotomy" and "Connections". This piece represents my dual self and my connections to the natural world around me and especially my connection to cats. Cats seem to represent my lunar self, which comes out of me being a Cancer.....however I am also very much a morning person and wake up each day drawn to new possibilities....the sun represents that half of me. The river rock as the canvas represents my connection to the earth. I think we all have these seemingly opposing forces within us that also allow us, if we want it, to see many sides of things and how they all connect in a way. It was difficult to photograph this work as I have lots of interference and irridescent colors at work in this piece. It was a joy to create! I loved ripping Lisa's work, a truly fantastic artist!
