This is my piece for January's Nibblefest Contest, theme Music. I started piano lessons at 6 years of age, and continued on into my college years. One of my favorite pieces was "Flight of the Bumblebee", the orchestral interlude in Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan. Fun fun fun to play, and I could just imagine a busy bumblebee, much like the one in this painting, going about his business, time to fly, no time to waste!
I enjoyed employing my chinese brushwork techniques to this piece, using my chinese watercolors and hand-ground ink. It is painted on 300# Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper, which is made in France and one of my favorite supports.
This is my entry in the Nibblefest Art Contest. There are other entries for you to choose from with each entry title containing the word NFAC. Please be sure to search for NFAC to see more great entries. We appreciate it!
