This photograph was taken with a Sony Mavica CD1000 in the historic district of Savannah, GA. This spider had built its web in a window of an abandoned building, just above pedestrian head level, and facing a very busy street. I found the choice for its home very intriguing. Discovering a little piece of natural life in an unexpected place, against glass and brick and concrete, inspires awe and fills me with a sense of wonder. I was amazed that it could live in a place that seemed so exposed, and also, that all the human passersby were oblivious to its existence. We should take the time to be more aware of our surroundings and appreciate the little gifts that creep our way. I named this one Charlotte, after the spider in CHARLOTTE'S WEB.
