Rubber Ducky Show
I am Ducky Daigle's daughter. That is how I was known while growing up, and not many people knew mom's real name. Mom was called Ducky from very young, when her father, my grandfather, would look at her and say, "isn't she just Ducky".
Throughout the years mom collected ducks. Maybe it was more like everyone gave her ducks as gifts but she loved getting each and every one of them. She had a rubber duck shower curtain in her assisted living apartment, and at her services, her casket was filled with ducks of all kinds. I made a glass rubber ducky to accompany her on her journey to the spirit world.
I was not able to finish this piece in time for the Rubber Ducky Show as it was just too hard an accomplishment at the time, seeing as we just buried mom in August. I did manage to make and finish this necklace by the end of February though, in time for my granddaughter's birthday. Katrina has something that will forever remind her of her great grandma, Ducky Daigle.
I made the lampwork glass rubber ducky and the six larger dot spacer beads and found some nice matching Christmas Trade beads to go with them. A easy to operate sterling toggle closure finishes off this piece.
