Red Coral Seas

Art: Red Coral Seas by Artist Stephanie M. Daigle
This necklace evokes my love for visiting the Caribbean. The coral rock background stones and shells are from the shore in one of my favorite places in the world, a small fishing village on the south coast of Jamaica, Little Bay. They help to tell the story of how this most fun necklace was born. When I create a piece such as this, my hope is that you can wander along with me to a place not often traveled where you can actually still find coral washed ashore in the sand and where you can see it live on the sea bed. Let it take you there… This 21 inch freeform peyote beaded necklace is accented by two Red Coral focal beads, and thick rows of tiny size 15 seed bead coral fringes (at approx 10 fringes per inch, fringed center is 5 inches long). Nestled among the coral fringes and the necklace itself, are all kinds of random beads mixed in which include Swarovski Crystals and an array of other small glass beads and shells. A little Sea Urchin lurks within. The closure is a vintage German glass button with a shell design. The necklace base was born on a strand of Softflex 49 strand beading wire, and all of the added freeform work is done with Fireline 4Lb test line doubled for extra strength to insure it will stand up to a lifetime of wear and become an heirloom. Seed beads sizes range from size 15, 11, and 8 seeds, size 12 delica beads, and various assorted embellishments as well as 2 good size pieces of focal red coral. This necklace is a stand out and will attract a lot of attention!
