There is a palette of blues that I often refer to as Lake Superior Blue
and they are my favorite of all. In wintertime, the shores of Lake
Superior are showcased by floating ice chunks glistening like diamonds
against the deep blue water and the ink blue sky. You can see it here
for yourself in this necklace...
Chunky clear quartz is
showcased against a blue quartz and fire polished spacers background.
Two dichroic lampwork side focal beads are complimented by the center
focal multi faceted quartz and swarovski Crystal dangles.
This
necklace is 19 3/4 inches long. Size 11 AB clear beads are set between
each bead on the necklace, making sure none of the stones or crystals
are abrasive to the C Flex 49 strand coated wire. I use sterling
crimps, crimp covers and wire guardians in order to protect the
stringing medium and give a pleasing finished look.
Each of my
beads is lovingly hand made, one at a time, using 104 coe Italian glass
and the flame of my Lynx torch. My beads go directly into the kiln for
a proper annealing bath, which will help ensure that they last until
the end of time. Of course, we are talking about glass, and some care
must be taken with it to help ensure this end.
