Morgause (sold)

Art: Morgause (sold) by Artist Shelly Bedsaul
This month's challenge for Nibblefest was to illustrate a story or poem. I chose Mary Stewart's "The Hollow Hills". It's a fabulous rendition of the King Arthur legend, told through Merlin's eyes, from childhood on. It's a series consisting of "The Crystal Cave", "The Hollow Hills", "The Last Enchantment" and "The Wicked Day". In more common knowledge, Morgause is Morgan le Fay. Where Merlin dealt with the higher spirit, the good of all and logic, Morgause sought only power for herself. She dwelt in the lower realms of hate, greed and dark magics. This is drawn on 8 x 10 archival rag board and sprayed with workable fix to seal and protect.
