"Autumn Spice"

Art: Autumn Spice by Artist Shelly Bedsaul
There's just beginning to be a nip of chill in the evening air. Time to think of harvests, baking and the smell of sweet spices in the kitchen. It won't be long before the feasts of thanksgiving and the rush of holiday celebrations. In this beginning of fall, I can take the time to sip and savor the tastes of the season. My technique is simple, yet time consuming. First I sketch the layout then ink with pigma micron archival inks. I use Prismacolor colored pencils, layering several shades of color to achieve depth. After the color is applied, I re-ink, then spray with workable fixatif to seal and protect. It's drawn on a 14 x 14 archival rag board.
