This collage features two of Poe's stories The Black Cat, The Gold Bug and of course his most famous poem The Raven. The roses represent the three flowers that along with a half-bottle of cognac are placed upon his grave by a black-clad stranger every year on the anniversary of his birth. It is said that one rose is for Poe, one for his Aunt who was like a mother to him and one is for his wife Virginia who was also his cousin who died at the very young age of 24.
