Art: Child of Healing by Artist Sara Burrier
I created this piece the night I returned from viewing "Avatar". That movie moved me in so many ways I had to paint something that expressed all of them...at least most of them. It was increasingly difficult not to paint blue cat like creatures, but instead I tried to go for what was truly on my heart. The movie, for me, definitely spoke about creation and how we choose to connect. Granted, it was very native american in many ways, but its something we are all aware of and something many different cultures/religions acknowledge. There is also a connection, in my opinion, between how we tend to the creation God gave us and children. I'm a teacher and see them create every time I teach. They are the future of this planet, and the future of mankind. Thus the child nurturing growth from the earth. The birds and butterflies symbolize harmony, and the green wings don't symbolize that we're angelic in nature, but that children are heirs to the throne of heaven. The green symbolizes our mortal and earthly realities. I could go on and on about what this piece symbolizes to me, but those are the key points. My love stem from your heart to your hands in all that you do. God bless.
