In continuing to explore the local landscapes I have returned to this image from Magnolia Gardens. My first attempt was a watercolor on site. I learned a lot, mostly that I needed more practice. I also had straightened out the end of the pier, thinking it was easier to render. It was and it was also a huge mistake because it lost its identity and character. I realized it was the eccentricity of the image that gave it life. I am much more pleased with the two succeeding renderings as I am much better off with my own eccentricities, the ones that make me who I am.
