I often do silver pins in a technique called repousse'. A number of these are landscapes. Most of the inspiration I base my works on comes from places I have visited, pictures of places or straight from ideas I happen to have. The image in this pin comes from the fascination I have with the shape and look of volcanoes, especially those that form islands in the Pacific. This volcanic island features two craters. one of them is a large and weathered caldera inundated by the sea.
Repousse' is an old and unusual way to manipulate and massage a flat sheet of metal into a three dimensional relief full of detail.
