Siamese Fighting Fish or Betta Fish are among my favorite fish. The round shape of the pressed wood board reminded me of the small bowls that you most commonly see them displayed in and I thought it would make a unique support for this fish. The roughness of the pressed board adds a grainy texture to the pea gravel, the plants and the black background.

I have used knife strokes and texture medium to emphasize the scales and fins. The main colors used are naphthol crimson, vivid lime green, black, burnt umber, and raw sienna.
