I ripped Amanda Makepeace! I love her drawings of her art supplies but they made me sad. I am a photographer but had written for 20 years (for the stage) and began painting when my children were born. The reinvestment in photo equipment keeps me pursuing my photographic art but my writing and painting have been NEGLECTED. I shot hundreds of images of different tools, from photo gear, writing implements and painting. After many hours I came to realize what I knew from the beginning, the simplicity of Amanda's drawings is what moved me. The brush and paint tube sitting on the table, alone. Hers worn, mine not. Even the signature, Makepeace, on her work echoed I should "make peace" with the guilt that accompanies neglect. A brush, a new tube of paint sitting on a blank canvas...At least I brought them out for art's sake...
