I have been creating dolls and paintings with the image of Frida Kahlo for a number of years now. I was very privileged to be interviewed and included in a special article celebrating the 100th birthday of Frida in the July 6 edition of the Mexico City newspaper "Reforma". This homage to Frida Kahlo is done on a beautiful silky velvet. I first drew and painted her face on muslin. I added silky doll's hair for her hair and eyebrows. A large silk rose rests in her hair. Silver crosses embellish the piece with purple lace trim. I made wide tabs for hanging and have added a calla lily as a hanging pole.
