Art: NIGHTJOURNEY - 3 by Artist Moshiur Rahman

“NIGHTJOURNEY - 3”. This is one of my earlier works on a 20” by 24”; 1.5” thick gallery wrapped stretched canvas, media acrylic paint. Some of my earlier works was never offered for sell and now I have brought them from my personal collection to sell.

This abstract composition is based on a very old mathematical problem call magic square. The surface of the composition is one of the possible solutions of a 3 by 3 magic square. The square has 9 cells in three rows and three columns. The idea is to fill the matrix cells from number 1 through 9 in such a way so that the sum of the numbers in each rows and columns and both diagonals stays the same after the cells been filled.

In this painting, I have tried to represent a solution of a 3 by 3 magic square where numeric numbers has changed its form and shape to a geometric shape and color. Each matrix cell is divided into one or more blocks, each blocks represents a unit and total number of units in any given cell represents the corresponding numeric number that holds the cell. For instance, a cell holds eight blocks means the number 8 and that goes into that cell and so on. I enjoyed a lot while doing it.

Email me at, if my works interest you.

Above mentioned painting is a 100% hand painted Original on Canvas 20”x24”x1.5” gallery wrapped museum quality stretched canvas, media acrylic paint, staple free edges. The sides are painted black so there is no need for framing and it is signed and dated on the surface of the painting. The painting is numbered and catalogued. A coat of varnish / sealer has been applied to protect the surface of the painting.
