"Quan-Yin and Her Dragon"

Art: Quan-Yin and Her Dragon by Artist Misty Monster
Quan Yin has long been a symbol of compassion. Further investigation suggests that she has the ability to identify with the sorrow of another on such a level as to be effected as if it were her own; hence, her name has often been translated as "She who hears the cries of the world". She is often shown with a willow in her right hand to signify her bending yet unbreakable nature. In her left hand is a vase from which she pours compassion on the world. The lotus signifies the purity of a flower that grows from mud. It is likened to the purity of the soul that stays pure even when life gets muddy. The beads around her neck and the Buddha on her head symbolize her devotion to Buddhism and its tenets. Draped in white for purity, Quan Yin sits atop a dragon symbolizing spirituality, wisdom, strength, and divine powers of transformation. Quan Yin has many manifestations and meanings. This is just a brief outline of her nature. For me, she is a calming presence in my household!

I hope you enjoy this Goddess and will consider bringing her presence into your home!
