Art: The Cardinal Rule of Spring... by Artist Kris Jean
On Easter my Aunt noticed a bird's nest in my Fathers artifical lighted palm tree on the back porch. Upon closer inspection, we found 4 eggs (carefull not to disturb them in ANY way). They were ever so slightly blue with brown speckles. Over the course of the day we all (all told about 8 family memebers staking out various places in the yard to see what kind of bird was going to come back to the nest. Most of us expecting a Blue Jay because of the coloring of the eggs. We were quite surprised to see a mother Cardinal come and sit with the eggs.

Fastforward to Aprill 11th (my neices birthday) we are having a birthday party outside on the back patio and we hear the baby birds chirping!! The mother was so nervous since it was quite loud she didn't stay for the party, but was very near by at all times. (we were almost afraid she might swoop at us - and for the baby birds sake we opened presents inside so they could be taken care of by the Mother Cardinal.
