She represents the Virgin mother: the Madonna, Mary of Christian legend; the great Egyptian goddess, Isis; and numerous counterparts from other cultures. In this painting she sits by the water, with a guardian-angel mother and her angel-baby at her side. They are representatives of all generations in teh never-ending lineage of our first ancestress.
