Arroyo Drive in South Pasadena skirts the Arroyo Seco. This beautiful lane, in the heart of the city, is lined with graceful California sycamores. At the time I painted this, in the fall of 2008, the sycamores were just beginning to turn color - to golden ochres and dusty browns. Their trunks arch sensitively over the shady roadway, revealing hints of violent and gray that pick up reflected colors. More about this painting and new art daily at
