This is the first in my series called "Cirque du Noir" - (a series of darker paintings inspired by sideshows and circuses from days gone by). It features a "Two-Headed Girl". There were several "two-headed girl" acts in 19th Century side-shows, which were really of course sets of conjoined twins. In this piece I am going for the idea that the advertisements for the sideshows portrayed a glamorous fantastical sort of idealized version of the rather sad reality and exploitation.
