This is a Great Egret in it's regular habitat, a marsh. I imagined this scene in the lowlands of the Carolinas, where it would be a common sight. Done in Lyra Rembrandt pastel pencils on blue toned pastel paper, it was a challenge to keep the colors from becoming too busy. I know other artists have done scenes such as this, but I wanted to put my own spin on it.
