This Northern Saw-whet owl is more common in North America than we think, it's small robin-ish size allows it to remain hidden easily in stands of trees. It lives year round in various types of woods, so lends itself to autumn scenes like this one. The warm tones was different from my usual color palette, which added some zest to painting it.
