Arctic Unicorns

Art: Arctic Unicorns by Artist Jackie K. Hixon
Narwhals have always cast a spell on people because they really do have a horn  jutting from their forehead like a unicorn. The horns are mostly on male animals and are used less for battling, than for a type of communication, perhaps like mutual grooming of other species? Narwhals are a blue grey when they are born and grow lighter as they age, adults usually have blotches on a mostly white body. Elderly individuals are the one who are totally white. They dive to catch various fish, squid and shrimp and reside in the Arctic waters of the very top of the globe. They are threatened by warming temperatures and oil and gas drilling & exploration in their habitat.
