Art: Vera's Diner by Artist Doris H. David
When my daughter Marcie was a young girl, she got a job as a waitress in a little luncheonette in the center of Newtown, CT. The diner used to be open through lunch time and did not serve supper. She loved having that job because she got to wear a uniform and she always seemed to be drawn to employment where people wore uniforms. Today she is an RN and although the days of nurse's starched white uniforms and caps are no longer in style, she did have the chance to wear the uniform for some time before the dress code changed. This watercolor which measures 10" X 14" and is rendered on Kilimanjaro 140 cold press paper, is dedicated to Marcie's first official job as a waitress.
