You look Moo-velous! (City Cow in top hat)
I created this piece because I wanted to showcase my cow in a unique and unusual way. The simple fact of the matter is, that the majority of cow art depicts "Country Cows"... you know - the ones that dwell in bucolic lush green pastures just mooing at the passing cars all day long....
They are not usually portrayed as sophisticated city cows, all decked out to the nines with a fancy black top hat on their heads...but then again, my bovine beauty is kinda special; she's a Manhattan Cow! She's "Puttin' on the Ritz"...and doesn't she look just moo-velous doing it? ;)
She's got lovely, big bright green eyes, and black eyelashes, glossy red lipsticked lips, and of course a big, fun pink snout or nose. Her ears are sticking out from the sides of the jar and are painted black and white just like the rest of her cowhide is. (I added the ears with some heavy paper board, and glued them to the sides of the jar.)
The rear view shows her backside, with a cute cow tail...
This piece is also FUNCTIONAL art, and would be so much fun to store candy (preferably "milk duds") in... ;)
In closing, may I say that I fully believe my portrayal of this bovine beauty is sensitive and respectful of the feelings of the many cows that will be viewing this exhibition; it shows that they don't have to settle for a remote pasture in the middle of nowheresville - they can make it in ol' New York; and if they can make it here, they can make it ANYWHERE! :)
