Art: Windows to Utopia by Artist Diane G. Casey

Windows to Utopia

This is a bright, colorful abstract that is very interesting to look at. I think of it as "organic". I love Mark Rothko's style of abstracts and was kind of going for that feel here with the fields of color. It's basically non-representational, or non-objective art (there are no concrete objects represented). The entire space of the canvas is important to the work, (no one area plays a more important role than another).

The way I created it was, I first painted an area at the bottom with pthalo blue and some white mixed in, and then I painted some areas on top with green and yellow and a bit of pthalo blue as well, to tie in with the lower area, and then I painted the orange-red around all of it.

This piece is textured, and I have also painted on a faux black frame about .75" all the way around the sides. I have signed it in the lower right hand side.

This is a very bold and intense abstract painting, and a great conversation starter.

I show several pictures here from differing angles, including a closeup for detail views.

If you have any questions, please email me.

Thanks for looking!
