Art: New York Doll by Artist Diane G. Casey

New York Doll

The title of this piece doesn't come from the protopunk David Johansen band "New York Dolls", but she looks like she could probably fit right in with them, eh?

It's actually my portrayal of myself as a 3D doll.

The material is muslin cloth, and I painted it in a color similar to my own skin tone. I also painted on some details as the black mary jane shoes, and the lines to separate the fingers on her hands, as well as some facial details.

Although I do have red hair and blue eyes, I don't normally wear bright red lipstick, gold chains and/or dresses, but decided to take artistic license here.

Also, because I live in New York City, my doll is wearing a "New York" handbag as an accessory.

Her red hair is fashioned out of a "scrunchy" hair accessory, and her dress is also a hair accessory. The NY purse is actually a keychain/coin purse and can still be used as such if the owner so desires.

I show several pictures here, including a closeup for detail.
