Great Fruitbowl in the Sky
It's where good fruit goes to die!
I took a bowl, filled it with a few oranges & bananas and I painted it.
I just bought this sage green wicker bowl today at a thrift store. I bought it because I really like the texture, (and the sagey green color). It was a real bargain at $3.00 so I decided to fill it up and do a watercolor painting of it.
The materials I used were mainly watercolor paints, but I also did use some watercolor pencils for sketching, shading and highlighting.
The process began with me doing a quick sketch of the subject with the watercolor pencils, and then blending the colors and getting more pigment with the actual watercolor paints.
I also do show a photo of the actual bowl filled with fruit so you can see how it's supposed to look. I will admit that I did take artistic license and made the oranges more "orange" because they seemed a bit "pale" to me and I wanted them to be more vivid and vibrant and really jump out at the viewer.
I would like to thank EBSQ powers that be, because I hadn't broken out my watercolor paints in a VERY VERY long time, since I've been painting in mainly acrylics lately, but I'm very glad EBSQ made me drag out those paints because I like the properties of soft watercolor paintings.
PLEASE NOTE: This ORIGINAL piece is currently listed on ebay!
THANKS FOR LOOKING!
