Coming Distractions
This piece is an abstract done in an expressionist style that's just chock full of colors, all clamoring for your attention, hence the title of "Coming Distractions"!
Another possible reason for the title is that I sometimes get annoyed at going to the movies and having to sit through (what seems like) endless "coming attractions" commercials! It can sometimes feel like hours before we get to see the actual movie that we came for! And let's face it, a night out at the movies is usually a distraction from the mundane reality of our everyday lives, right?
In any event, I had fun creating it and letting the colors just go wherever they "wanted to"... Then I took my pallette knife and scraped some areas so the white would show through (that's the white lines you can see dotted throughout the piece).
It's done on wood with the sides painted black. Varnished for protection and enhancement of color. I have signed on the back. There is also a hanger on the back, so no need for expensive framing.
I show several pictures here from differing angles, including a closeup for detail of color and texture.
Some of the colors I used are: pthalo blue, true red, hansa yellow light, and of course black, for the sides.
