I am a Pennsylvania artist shifted over from New Jersey. What that means is I have embraced the rural culture of this state but brought over my sense of multi-culturalism and the education I had in the arts from New Jersey along with a strong memory of the historical colonial heritage of my home state. In other words my reach when inquiring into making a work of art is vast.
The subject matter of my art works can delve into as far reaching images from early Americana onward to drawings of musicians in current blues bars performing to ancient China and modern Chinese images. And then I do studies of dolls from different cultures such as Japan and Europe and any other object that interests me.
I have no set technique or style. Art is about communication whether it is to make a social comment, just to show how an object or person is appreciated in front of me or to tell a story. How I approach what a piece will look like and its general feel has everything to do with what I want to convey. I look deep within myself for how I feel about what I want to make and use my intellect as far as how art can reflect that regarding color and line.
My art evolves with me and is never stagnant as I move through my life in contemporary and traditional American culture and interact with people and history and objects of people from other cultures.
In high school in 1972 and 1973 I won the Epstein's Gold Key Award for an intaglio print which was displayed in the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey and I also won the New Jersey Scholastic Art Award where my tempra piece was shown in the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, New Jersey. I was also one of the people who submitted an entry into the WOrld Trade Center Site Memorial Design Competition in 2003.
Enjoy my art,
