This and other entries to the Cyclamen show are due to the urging of a friend who offered me the use of a few of her photos of cyclamen, because I had none. It is a collaborative effort, which, without the borrowed photos, would not have been achieved.
The image was built in Photoshop. First, the single propeller-like bloom shown in detail was isolated and cloned to create a fuller flower. It was then digitally painted in Studio Artist and returned to PS for hue and saturation adjustments.
The image has a natural quality to it similar to a Chinese painting, even though liberties were taken with the color. Cyclamen do come in blue, and although the hue of this one is somewhat exaggerated, I feel that the color works here.
It was fun to create this and other images for the show, and especially to see the evolution of each image in a different way through successive painting processes.
