Cherelle Art

Artist's Profile

My name is Cherelle Art and I create various types of art, mainly sculptures and paintings, that invite the viewer to reflect on what it is
that is important to them. I feel that I am creating a visual reminders that will help people when making decision about their life.
My primary message is, money is important, however it is not as important as love and friendship should be in your life. I feel that is
what truly matters most, and it will be love and friendship that will make you feel like the richest person in the world. A person is
misguided if they think money will do that. That is what my message is about. Reflect on what it is you are valuing and what are you giving apriority to in your life. If it is not Love and Friendship, please consider making different choices so they become more important than money.
I am passionate about photography, capturing the right element of light with the subject(s), it is something that I appreciate, and I am so thankful for digital cameras and the related technology. I have several digital cameras and underwater photography is my favorite because it is so beautiful and peaceful to me, and I want to share that with others that will never be underwater.
When I am painting, I use several various techniques. There are times that I love to be a bit abstract, utilizing collage materials like newspapers, fabric, glue, and plaster and then other times, it is just about the paint and the canvas alone. There are times when I love to incorporate multiple dimensions to my painting to get people to focused, the more they look at the paintings, the more they will see. Just like the people in their lives, the more the focus on them, the more they will value them. Then other days, I am a minimalist, and the message is simple and prima facie. I almost always use acrylic paint and I use several different techniques depending on what inspired me.
A lot of my inspiration comes from what nature builds and publishes to the world. This I find an ever ending supply of..... I love to spend a few hours outside in the morning and take what I saw back to the studio with me and draw it on paper with notes, for a future painting or sculpture.
My pottery and sculptures are usually inspired by something from the ocean. I feel when I abuilding these items, even if it is just a coffee mug, there is a story in my brain that I am telling on the clay by a combination of drawing on the surface(sgraffito) and attaching sprig molds. I use primarily Laguna B-Mix 5 clay which is porcelain mix and use a lot of various glazes from multiple manufacturers. I use an oxidation method with an electric kiln, and fire to cone5/6, also known as mid-fire range.
Lastly, no day is complete for me without an experiment in play. In fact, anyone that visits me and my studio knows that the first question you can ask is, what experiment do you have underway today, and there will always be an answer
