I love to combine sketching and painting when working outdoors--this is a loose colored pencil sketch done with a warm dark gray pencil, with quick watercolor washes splashed in. I guess it was not just MY favorite, as my editors chose it as the cover for my Sierra Club Guide to Painting in Nature.
