Color, line and form push forward and back on their own without the aid of chiaroscuro and deserve concentrated exploration. Very subtle differences in color mixing and placement can cause different forms to jump forward and give certain colors special emphasis. The same painting (composition) can look totally different depending on how you use color. It's really quite fascinating!
