Artist's Profile

I have long appreciated the talents of artists such as the painter John Singer Sergeant and George Cartlidge (who produced some of the most wonderful Emaux Obrants style tiles). Both artists worked in the early twentieth century and concentrated in portraiture, Maybe I was born too late. The creation of realistic sculptured portraits, particularly like Cartlidge created has ,for years, been my singular goal. I have worked in many mediums such as charcoal, glass and porcelain but found I most enjoyed and have been most successful working in food materials such as sugar, chocolate and jello.

The transient nature of food stuffs have led me along the artistic expression route of making molds which are modeled after my sculptures. In turn these molds are individually designed to mold fondant, hot sugar, jello and even wax and soap (who are foods' poor cousins but who make wonderful portraits). This process has ultimately enlightened me to my own desire to share the actual production of recognizable portraits with my friends and family.

I have been hesitant to label myself an artist.-- maybe an artisan, craft person or mold maker. I will leave this question up to you but in your judgment realize that the passion and commitment to my work are as true as can be said of any any more classic artist.

I think, like most artists, my work will most truthfully speak for me. Included will be still photos of final works and videos of the process.
