No longer in my ownership, it's one of just a handful of works done in oil
(I preferred water based media). It was shown in a small show on the west coast in 1966. A young lady became enamored with it and the painting was presented to her as a gift. Fifty years later, it's still housed in my home, the property of my wife of nearly 47 years. So I can enjoy both the young lady and the artwork. :-D Although custom prints are available, the original is not offered for sale.
The work itself is highly textured, an exercise in palette knife and nearly a pint of white used to cover up my first idea that didn't turn out well. The addition of the white in a thick layer with underlying colors accidentally (at first) dredged up from the tip of the palette knife reminded me of a view I was familiar with and so began sprouting imaginary flames, figures and hoses. The building itself has never to my knowledge, actually burned but the viewpoint was familiar to local observers at that time.
The frame was created by scorching and fastening boards to the canvas stretcher boards, using tools that I employed at those time to masks carved from local cedar blocks.
By George!
